Breaded Tofu

Hello there,

We are leaving for a gluten-free and very tasty recipe!

Small idea for a dish when you don't really want to cook and you don't necessarily like plain tofu.

Small story point to start this new post:

What is tofu?

Tofu is a popular food derived from soybeans. It is made by curdling fresh soy milk, pressing it into a solid block, and then cooling it - in the same way that traditional dairy cheese is made by curdling and solidifying milk. The liquid (whey) is discarded and the curd is pressed to form a cohesive bond.

It is the staple ingredient in Thai and Chinese cuisine, it can be cooked in different ways to change its texture from smooth and soft to crisp and crunchy.

Like many soy foods, tofu originated in China.

Legend has it that it was discovered around 2000 years ago by a Chinese cook who accidentally curdled soy milk by adding nigari seaweed.

Introduced to Japan in the 8th century, tofu was originally called "okabe". It will be called "Tofu" in 1400.

In the sixties, interest in healthy eating brought tofu to Western countries. Since then, countless research has demonstrated the many benefits that soybeans and tofu can offer.

Tofu is a good source of protein and contains all nine essential amino acids. It is also a valuable plant source of iron and calcium and the minerals manganese and phosphorus. In addition to that, it also contains magnesium, copper, zinc, and vitamin B1.

Considering its neutral taste and range of consistency, tofu has an amazing ability to work with almost all types of flavors and foods. Extra firm tofus is ideal for baking, grilling and sautéing, while soft tofu is suitable for sauces, desserts.
